Genevieve E. O'Connor

GENEVIEVE E. O’CONNOR is an associate professor of marketing at the Gabelli School of Business, Fordham University. Her publications have appeared in a number of top tier journals including the Journal of Business Research, Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, and the Journal of Consumer Affairs.

 

Genevieve relishes challenges and opportunities by transforming them into successful outcomes. She is a services marketing strategist who intuitively recognizes and addresses problems that affect both consumers and organizations. Her stronganalytical skills and in-depth working knowledge of multiple industries (including academia, health care, and financial services) afford her the unique ability to translate data analysis into profitable business insights. She is an inspirational leader with an enthusiastic can-do attitude that has proven to motivate and bring out the best in others.

 

Genevieve’s more than twenty years of experience with Fortune 500 companies (3M, U.S. Surgical, and Boston Scientific), coupled with her background in academia (Fordham University and Rutgers University), allows her to conduct topical empirical research. Her research, which has appeared in top tier publications, and her experience, has made her an industry expert for which she now provides consultation to various organizations.

 

Genevieve is a regular speaker and commentator on consumer issues of financial vulnerability and healthcare access. She has been featured at numerous academic and executive conferences, such as the American Council on Consumer Interests, and most recently in Business Insider Magazine. Prior to academia, she enjoyed a successful career in medical device and pharmaceutical sales, where she secured purchasing commitments and exceeded sales objectives by educating and training customers on product usage.

 

Genevieve earned a PhD in management with a concentration in marketing from Rutgers University graduating summa cum laude. Prior to that she received a Master of Business Administration in marketing and management from Fordham University, also graduating summa cum laude. Prior to her post-graduate degrees, she received a Bachelor’s degree in Comprehensive Science from Villanova University.
